Trainee Printer Workshop Technician

Looking for a hands on trainee workshop technician who has the curiosity and ability to learn how to configure/refurbish Multifunctional printers.

This position is responsible for the run up of MFD’s/Printers as per the customer’s specifications, as well as performing repairs and refurbishing equipment in the field, when required ensuring that our products are prepared, tested and working correctly for installation in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow the Trainee training plan provided both within the workshop and in the field.  Training will be provided by the Workshop Supervisor and staff and Customer Service Technicians.
  • Training in the field to include shadowing the Customer Service Technician to customer installation sites in order to train the customer on how to use their installed equipment, providing support to install on customer network, running test prints, learning how to ask ‘discovery questions’ to diagnose faults.  Field work would be a minimum of one day per month.
  • Learn from the Customer Service Technician to complete field repairs, learning the process including calling the customer, diagnosing and understanding the issue, organising convenient time to attend the site, and diagnose the problem. Understand how to handle customer issues and reactions and resolve them in a timely, appropriate way.
  • Assemble and configure, ‘run-up’, MFD/Printer  for our customers.
  • Use online job ticketing tools to receive and complete work.
  • Recycle packaging as per instructions, including loading recycling machines.
  • Ensure run-ups and other tasks are completed within the specified times for each device or task.
  • Ensure quality repairs and refurbishment as per workshop guidelines.
  • Follow correct waste disposal procedures, ensuring minimal waste goes to landfill, and maximising recycling activities.
  • Following FOM (and Service Managers)  your line managers directives are followed at all times.
  • Adhere at all times to Company Policy and Procedures in the pursuance of required duties.
  • Report all issues within the workshop that will affect productivity, quality and teamwork to your line manager.
  • Liase with your line manager or warehouse operators for any issues that will affect ‘on-time’ delivery and installation of machines
  • Assess returned machines for refurbishment and/or disposal as required.
  • Writing up customer reports following field repairs.
  • In time provide support and assistance to new staff to work effectively, safely and in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.

Other Requirements

  • Current driver’s licence is desirable
  • Practical mechanical & electronic skills
  • Accurate data entry skills & ability to quickly learn new software applications
  • Previous experience in dismantling, locating & identifying the source of a fault & re-assemble an electro-mechanical unit
