Position Title: Supervisor

Reports to: Superintendent

Direct Reports: Labourers, Leading Hands, Plant Operators

Location: Melbourne

Position Summary

The Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the onsite site performance labour, plant and subcontractors allocated to your duties.  This will include the Health & Safety of your team, the care of the environment in which your work and the quality of the wok you and your team produce.  Your sites must be both safe and productive, with our works built right the first time.  Responsible means ensuring these things occur, not doing it all yourself and that you use the available resources efficiently and allocate tasks appropriately.

The Supervisor is in control of the day-to-day activities of the work area allocated to you on site.  This includes planning activities in advance; organising day-to-day labour and plant resources to ensure the works are completed within the construction budget and program; and direct management of subcontractors.  Subcontractor management includes detailed staging of their works to optimise the program and opportunities.

Supervisors work closely with our Project Engineers to complete projects on time and within budget.  The Engineers are in place to provide you with technical, administrative and HSEQS support during the construction of the works. Together, you should ensure the program is regularly updated (i.e. weekly) and reflective of our forecast.

A Supervisor maybe required to liaise with the client’s site representative to ensure the smooth running of the project, while communicating and cooperating with other trades in matters relating to HSEQS, as well as logistics and procurement.  This may require you to attend site meetings with the client’s representative to provide program updates and resource scheduling.

Because you are a leader of the organisation, a Supervisor must always maintain a professional demeanour and appearance, setting the standard for all site personnel.  The Company’s reputation and image in the community is very important to the successful operation of the business and must be upheld at all times.

On larger projects, your responsibilities extend to coordinating construction activities, direct labour employees including other supervisors, subcontractors and work groups, and internal and external plant, driving effective performance from all to ensure the safe and successful completion of the project on time and to the specified quality.
