Position Summary
Teachers deliver high quality vocational education, training and competency-based assessment in specified program(s) in a range of settings including classrooms, workplaces and online environments.

Key Accountabilities
Teaching and Learning (design; delivery and evaluation)
• Contribute to the design and development of learning programs and flexible learning strategies.
• Use training packages and accredited courses to meet client needs.
• Contribute to the development of resources and programs to generate authentic learning experiences.
• Contribute to program evaluation.
• Plan, organise and deliver work-based learning using best practice delivery modes in a range of contexts, including facilitating and mentoring learning in the workplace, and e-learning.
• Identify student language, literacy and numeracy issues, including ’learners at risk’ and seek advice and assistance where necessary to meet learner needs and ensure appropriate strategies to improve student learning outcomes.

Assessment (products, processes and validation)
• Contribute to the design, development and validation of assessment tools, and/or modify existing ones, to suit client needs and specified context.
• Plan and assess student learning and competence in a range of contemporary VET settings using a range of methods to ensure validity and reliability in assessment decisions.

Compliance (system standards; system stakeholders; products and processes)
• Comply with national VET quality standards and relevant legislation.
• Provide accurate pre-course advice to students and assist with student selection and student induction.
• Maintain learning program and student training and assessment information in accordance with org. policies and procedures.
• Use current training packages, accredited courses, supporting tools and resources to support training and assessment practices.
• Ensure work practices comply with organisational policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and up to date records using prescribed organisational systems.
• Contribute to and participate in quality/compliance audits including the rectification of findings.

Professional Practice
• Manage own behaviour in accordance with the Employee Code of Conduct and org. policies and procedures.
• Comply with legislative, legal, regulatory, ethical and environmental responsibilities and requirements.
• Maintain and enhance professional knowledge and practice including:
o continuing development of knowledge of key stakeholders such as state training authorities, industry skills councils, VET regulators and licensing bodies
o educational practitioner competence and capability
o industry currency and vocational competence relevant to own subject area.
o vocational licenses where relevant.
o relevant org. polices, systems and software.
• Contribute as a proactive, collaborative and effective member of the org. community, actively engaging with and promoting org. values and commitment to innovation.
• Actively and constructively contribute the team’s strategic and operational/business plans.
• Responsibility for creating and maintaining accurate records of all activities as an employee. Corporate records must be stored in the Institute's SharePoint records management system.

Industry and community collaboration (engagement, networks, vocational competence & workforce development)
Establish and maintain relationships with industry and stakeholders to ensure learning programs and related assessment meet the client’s needs.
• Engage in networks to support sharing of vocational and learning and assessment, knowledge and skills.

• Implement approaches to build vocational competence that leads to industry credibility.
• Work in partnership with industry and community groups to develop solutions to meet identified workforce development needs, where required.
• Promote your Centre’s and organisational programs and services to relevant clients.
• Where required, actively participate in sustainable consultancy work for the org. This may include the development of the consultancy, undertaking training/skills analysis, design training and other solutions to meet identified workforce development needs, developing learning materials and/or providing services such as delivery.
