Our client is an ASX-listed, equal opportunity business that develops and operates Australia's essential services networks across the telecommunications, utilities, transport, defence and social infrastructure industries, keeping communities connected.
The organisation is launching new roles in its Transport division to support two new long-term Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) maintenance contracts awarded by the Victorian Department of Transport and Planning (DTP). The Victoria West ITS Maintenance Contract (VIMC) covers more than 4,500 ITS assets across 27 Local Government Areas, spanning around a third of metropolitan Melbourne and extending west to the South Australian border. The Motorway Communications Network Contract connects more than 2,000 roadside devices, including lane use management signs, variable speed limit signs, freeway ramp signals, CCTV and sensor technologies, while also connecting private road operators with Victoria's transport control system.

About the Role
As the Commercial & Subcontracts Lead, you will oversee the commercial and subcontract management functions of these contracts, including protecting contractual entitlements, managing commercial risk and supporting compliant, value-focused delivery by the organisation and its supply chain.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage contract governance and compliance, including contract obligations, delegations, authorised representatives, correspondence and notices
  • Administer work orders, variations, extensions of time, claims, pricing, quotations and commercial matters associated with non-conformance processes
  • Develop and manage subcontractor and supplier governance frameworks, including commercial agreements, onboarding and compliance requirements
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, claims, insurances, securities and commercial risk exposure
  • Lead commercial risk and opportunity management, including governance, reporting and action tracking
  • Support KPI and MCOS performance, abatement prevention, entitlement assessments and executive commercial reporting
  • Partner with key stakeholders to support evidence-based, contractually compliant decision-making
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support governance, audit requirements and effective contract administration

About You
  • Experience in commercial, contract or subcontract management, preferably within infrastructure, construction, electrical, transport, utilities or maintenance services
  • Experience with government or performance-based service contracts
  • Strong contractual and commercial acumen, negotiation and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence operational teams and build constructive client and supplier relationships

Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in commercial management, construction management, law, quantity surveying, business or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
