About the Role We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to provide commercial leadership across a major water infrastructure services contract. This role is responsible for driving commercial performance, supporting financial outcomes and ensuring effective contract management practices are embedded throughout the business. Working closely with operational leaders, clients and subcontractors, you will oversee pricing, commercial negotiations, claims management, risk mitigation and continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in supporting profitability, strengthening commercial governance and developing strategies that improve operational efficiency and commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
Provide commercial leadership and guidance across contract operations.
Develop and maintain pricing models, financial forecasts and P&L analysis.
Support achievement of business performance and profitability targets.
Lead commercial negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
Manage claims, variations, disputes and contract-related matters.
Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and financial risks.
Support contract governance and compliance activities.
Develop and implement commercial processes and procedural improvements.
Monitor and improve order-to-cash performance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
Support tender submissions, contract extensions and pricing reviews.
Prepare commercial reports, business cases and recommendations for senior leadership.
Work collaboratively with operational teams to improve commercial performance and reduce risk.
About You You are a commercially focused professional with strong financial acumen and experience working in complex contract environments. You have the ability to analyse commercial issues, influence key stakeholders and develop practical solutions that support both operational and financial objectives. You are a strategic thinker who enjoys partnering with operational teams and driving continuous improvement across business functions.
Requirements
Degree qualification in Finance, Business Management or a related discipline.
CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification highly regarded.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a commercial, finance, project controls or contract management role.
Experience developing pricing models, financial forecasts and business cases.
Experience managing contracts, claims and commercial negotiations.
Strong understanding of risk management principles.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Proven stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
Experience working within complex operational or project environments.
Desirable Experience
Utilities, infrastructure or water industry experience.
Experience supporting large-scale maintenance or construction contracts.
Experience with subcontractor management and commercial governance frameworks.
Experience working within matrix organisations.
