We are seeking motivated individuals to join the Waterways & Catchments Delivery team as Trainee Civil Construction Crew Member. This traineeship is ideal for people who enjoy physical work, problem?solving and contributing to the safety and reliability of essential water assets.

About the Opportunity
You’ll work alongside experienced field crews delivering pipe repairs, civil maintenance and project works across Melbourne Water’s network. This is a practical, outdoor role with structured training, mentoring and exposure to a wide range of civil operations.
 
  • Delivering pipe repairs, civil works and maintenance activities
  • Operating hand tools, power tools and field equipment safely
  • Supporting routine maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Following quality control and safety procedures
  • Working individually or as part of a team under supervision
  • Participating in continuous improvement of work practices
  • Responding to call?outs and emergency situations
  • Reporting hazards, incidents and near misses

Key Selection Criteria
The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate and provide evidence of:
  • Experience in civil construction or maintenance (advantageous but not essential)
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Strong problem?solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Ability to work in changing environments
  • Initiative and willingness to learn
  • Willingness to obtain an electrical connect/disconnect licence
  • Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical check
  • Willingness to undergo a Police Check
  • Willingness to undergo drug and alcohol screening
